Guidelines to Hosting a Carnival
By: Admin, Carnival of Real Estate | October 11, 2006
Q. What is involved in hosting a carnival?
A. Keep in mind your audience- real estate enthusiasts who wish to find the best articles from that week, but make sure to have fun with the carnival at the same time. The one thing we’d like to avoid is the carnival becoming nothing more than a link exchange. The aim is to give credit to those real estate bloggers that produce truly great content. Superstars deserve their time in the spotlight- if you are a real estate blogger, this is your spotlight.
- Set aside about 2-3 hours (or more based on the number of submissions) to read all the posts that were submitted to you
- The deadline for submissions is Sunday afternoon at 3 P.M. (EST). For submissions that come in after that time, it is up to the host as to whether or not they review those submissions and include them in the selection process.
- Pick the 10-20 posts that you deem to be the best. Most likely, you’ll be excluding some posts- that’s okay!
- Highlight and summarize your best posts in a blog entry on your blog. Most authors will send you a short summary when they submit their post that you may or may not choose to incorporate. Be creative with the carnival- add some spice if you feel the need! Here are some of the more creative editions:
- Select a “Pick of the Week” that you find to be the best article that week.
- Please post the carnival by 12 P.M. (EST) on the Monday that you are assigned.
- Sit back and watch the traffic come to your site!
- Stumble it!
